Hobie/ Hennessey's Waterman's Challenge this Saturday
This Saturday morning, 5/31, if you're faced with the choice of either doing a paddle race or mowing the lawn, let me go over a few key points.
Hobie and Hennessey's have put together a race, starting around 8:00 AM for paddleboards and SUP's.
Your lawn has put together a new collection of weeds to cut.
The paddle race features a 4 four or eight mile course, a prize purse of 3000 dollars, and a post race BBQ hosted by Hennessey's Dana Point.
Your lawn features the same course you always take, no prize purse and a post race meal of unheated hot dogs.
At the race you will enjoy sunshine and salt air whereas mowing your lawn you will get gasoline and grass clippings sprayed on your legs.

Chad Carvin wins Return to the Pier Race
Friday evening didn't feel like late May in California. It felt like early January in New Hampshire but that didn't stop 70 or so people from turning out for the Hennessey's Return to the Pier Race held in Hermosa Beach. Wind and chop made the conditions less than ideal, but when you're Chad Carvin, those things don't matter and you win the race in just over half an hour. Four miles in just over half an hour? That's a little less than 8 miles per hour in choppy seas. Not bad. Hot on Chad's heels were Kyle Powers and George Loren. Steve Woods won stock, Brian Spear took the 14' class, Jane Cairns put in a showing to win the women's and the ever present EJ Johnson placed first in Stand Up. Two great races this weekend!

Moonlight Beach Paddle Race this weekend
Looking for a fun race this weekend? Look no further than the Moonlight Beach paddle and swim happening this Saturday, May 17th at 8:30 AM. The race starts at the Oceanside Pier and ends 11 miles later at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Stock, 14 foot, unlimited, womens, 45 years+, and stand-up divisions are included.
