J.P. Atherholt may have maintained his stranglehold as Grand Champion, but it was an upstart who stole the show at the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum Florida State Paddleboard Championships Saturday at Shepard Park during the 45th Annual Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival. The competitor who skipped the King of the Beach race -- and thus did not qualify for the Grand Championship -- was the person everyone was talking about after the 7-Mile race. Boca Raton's Jeff Noell won the Unlimited Class title with a record-breaking time of 1:18:06, easily besting Atherholt's second-place finish of 1:25:06. "This is probably my second or third time on one of those 18's (foot) and they're so fun, they're so much faster," said Noell.
