Where do you keep your paddleboards/ gear/ quiver set-up?

I’ve got a few boards all over the place - from Cali, to dad’s shed. I’ve actually got one of my boards posted up in the Sunshine Beach Surf Club bar.

What does your dream paddle look like?

I’d love to get into a few more adventure paddles with Zeb, Lockwood and Jacko! Anything in that sort of realm I’d be happy with.

If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the whole Catalina Classic (or equivalent), what would it be?

This for me would change everything week. I go through music pretty quick. If I was racing right now it would be Colossus - IDLES

If I didn’t spend so much time paddling, I would probably be doing _______ more.

I'd be spending more time chasing waves.

What/who inspires you?

I’ve been fortunate to have some of my biggest inspirations growing up become some of my best mates. Jacko, Zeb Mikey, Brad, list goes on…. And my mum!

Who is your paddling nemesis?

There’s been a few over the years haha but I think the top of that list goes to the wriggler. One of the best paddlers of our generation and just got me every time.

What is an item you don’t leave home without/ pack on every trip?

I take sandpaper and a file everywhere. I love tweaking my gear especially fins!

Worst paddle/ nutrition story of your life?

Would’ve been around 2017 I did a paddle with Lincoln Dews here on the Sunny Coast. Long story short I extremely underestimated this off shore triangle dewsa drew up. I had only 1 bottle and no food for what ended being something in the 30km range. Along the back stretch and probably 4km offshore I decided to bail out as I couldn’t see the front of my board from dizziness. Not sure how long it took me to get back in but linc was there waiting and he paddled an extra 5km.

Show us the trunk of your car?

Paddle scene hot take?

There’s a massive difference between paddling the M2O / Catalina and racing! The people who competitively race are a different breed.

Pre or post race ritual?

Pre I always tap the nose of my board on the sand twice before going in the water. Post usually involves about 15 beers.

A photo of a scar or scary moment and the story behind it.

Surfing a semi remote point break by myself kicked out of a wave and collected my own board. 2 hour drive to hospital for 3 staples.

A goal you have- big or small.

My biggest goal for a long time was to win M2O so now I’ve got to look for something else.

Something you've made recently

I’ve been making my own fins in dad’s shed!

Something no one would believe about you?

I’ve grown up in a Motorsport family and still have a bit to do with it helping my old man race a car in a statewide series.
