The Loop '24

The Loop is a long standing race in California- it's been going since 1997 and always draws a large group of paddlers for its 11 mile course around Coronado Island. Due to water quality, this year's course was altered, and paddlers raced from the finish line to the half-way point and back instead of hitting the open ocean.

Unlimiteds led the charge at this flat water course, whereas at the first two races of the season- both downwinders- we saw more stocks earlier in the pack. Coming in first overall and first Unlimited was Lance Lerum at 1:43. Second and third were taken by Dan Mann and Zach Jirkovsky. In the stock division, Miles Miller came in first at 1:57, followed by Jay Miller in second and Foster Campbell for third. The 14' division was led by Spencer Pirdy coming in at 1:54, with Chris Durbin in 2nd, and Jay Scheckman in 3rd.

San Diego local Liz Hunter led the women's charge, coming in at a ripping 2:03. She was followed by Sydney Brouwer at 2:15 and Kayla Coscino at 2:16.

With 3 races clocked, the season is in full swing. Up next is the South Bay Paddle in Hermosa Beach in just a few weeks.
